🐰 Please Help Odette Beat Uterine Cancer

Hello, my name is Jennifer, a college student and one of Odette’s family member. Odette is a sweet and silly 4-year-old rabbit who has been through more than any little animal should. She needs to undergo a spay to help her live a full life because doctors had discovered that she developed a mass in her uterus, which is uterine cancer. Due to Odette’s history of health issues, her health was not in ideal condition for a spay over the years, but now we are left with no choice. We first noticed something was wrong in 2024 when she stopped eating hay and became dangerously thin and lethargic. She was anemic and had to take a lot of medicine for a while, which helped her gain some weight back. As her health improved, no further assessments were taken as she started eat on her own regularly. However, half a year later she stopped eating again, we found out that she had a jaw abscess on her right jaw. We had this abscess lanced but we later discovered that she was developing several smaller ones on her left jaw. In order to control for the growth, we decided to start antibiotics and penicillin shots until I have saved enough to afford a jaw surgery. Unfortunately, in May of 2025, the antibiotics and weekly penicillin shots that we hoped to help control the infection had caused imbalance of gut bacteria and triggered a stressful GI episode. For a month, Odette had to be syringe fed critical care since the discomfort had made her lose appetite and stop eating. The doctor had recommended that we stop all antibiotics until Odette can eat on her own again. After halting treatment and we thought everything was going well, but we were devastated to hear that she now has uterine cancer. Though she was once too weak for surgery, she must now undergo a spay to have a chance at a full life.

Odette means everything to me, she’s taught me patience, compassion, and love. Odette has been through everything with me. She was there for my high school graduation, the start of college, even my own cardiovascular surgery. Through every hard moment, she’s always been there, and now it’s my turn to be there for her. It hurts me to see her go through so much and I want to give her the same love and commitment she’s shown to me.
