Support the unique bond between Milo and his Papa: Help them tackle their mounting veterinary bills!

Milo is no ordinary rabbit. He’s a Giant breed and has a story as unique as he is. With less than 24 hours to spare before he was destined to become food, Milo was rescued from a grimy, outdoor rabbit hutch in the sweltering San Gabriel Valley region of California. This rescue was just in time and marked the beginning of a new chapter of life for Milo.

His rescuer, Philip, took him home only to discover the dreadful conditions Milo had been living in. Once they arrived home, the reality of Milo’s deteriorating health became apparent. As a responsible and loving pet parent, Philip took Milo to a specialist rabbit veterinarian. The vet diagnosed Milo with numerous health issues; his feet were in a poor state due to having walked on chicken wire throughout his short life of just 4 months. His teeth were growing sideways, a condition common in Giant breeds, and had to be surgically removed.

Philip, now Milo’s Papa, spared no effort or expense to ensure Milo’s well-being. After numerous veterinary visits and treatments, Milo had his front teeth removed. Despite these initial hurdles, Milo received an abundance of tender loving care and knew he was finally safe. Philip, who is disabled from a spinal cord injury, dedicated his time and energy to Milo, being with him 24/7. He hand-fed Milo, who struggled to eat hay without his front teeth.

Philip did everything within his power to make Milo’s life better, for the simple reason that Milo was a special boy. Eventually, Milo was recognized as an official service bunny, validated by official documents. The bond between Milo and his Papa was unbreakable and transformative, with each providing the other with a unique form of support.

However, one fateful night this year, Milo suddenly fell ill. He was diagnosed with gastrointestinal stasis, a common and potentially deadly condition in rabbits. He was immediately rushed to an emergency exotic vet. When he was brought back home, Milo was paralyzed – an ironic and poignant parallel to his Papa’s own left-arm paralysis.

These mounting medical expenses, on top of previous bills, have become financially overwhelming for Philip, who survives on a modest monthly disability check. Now, Milo requires more care than ever, necessitating additional aid from Philip’s caregivers to ensure his backend is clean and sterile. Despite his own struggles, Milo strives to stay close to his Papa, dragging himself to see him whenever he can.

Milo’s future health care depends on further testing to determine whether his paralysis is due to a spinal injury or another underlying issue. It is crucial to find a way to help Milo regain his mobility. Medication ensures that Milo is not in pain, and his will to live is evident. Milo longs to remain by his Papa’s side, to continue to serve as his service bunny, and to receive the constant affection and adoration that only his Papa can offer.

Could you extend your support to this extraordinary pair – Milo and his Papa – and contribute towards their veterinary bills? This would allow Milo to receive the necessary future care he needs. They’re unable to return to the vet until the existing bills are paid off. Any contribution, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated by Milo and his Papa. Milo remains ever grateful to all those who assist him and his Papa in navigating their disabilities. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
