Bounce Back with Boba: A Critical Surgery Fundraiser

Hello, my name is Katt and I am reaching out to you all on behalf of my lovable 3-year-old Lionhead bunny, Boba. This adorable creature has brought so much joy into my life and now, unfortunately, she is in need of your help.

On an ordinary Friday the 15th of September, 2023, something felt off. I noticed Boba, who usually has an insatiable appetite and a profound love for food, acting peculiar and not showing her typical enthusiasm towards her meals. This unusual behavior led me to take her to the vet for a check-up.

The diagnosis we received was a severe tooth abscess that, our vet suspects, is progressively eating away at her jaw. The news was shocking and heartbreaking, especially considering that just two short months prior, Boba was given a clean bill of health during a routine visit.

In order to combat this disease and give Boba the best fighting chance at recovery, I am currently administering Penicillin shots to her on a daily basis for the next 21 days, along with Meloxicam. However, Boba’s path to recovery doesn’t end here. She requires a specialized surgical procedure and a comprehensive CT scan to ensure we can fully address and combat this issue.

The cost of this essential operation is significant, coming in at a hefty $2,400+. This covers the surgery itself, post-operative care, necessary medications, the CT scan, and other miscellaneous medical expenses. While I am employed full-time, I am also simultaneously pursuing a Master’s in Graphic Design, which leaves me in a difficult financial situation.

Boba’s story with me began when she was just 3 months old. I rescued her from a life confined to a tiny cage in the sweltering heat of a south Florida backyard. Since then, she has become a free-roaming rabbit who spends most of her time playfully bossing our dog around, keeping me company as I work, and giving the most heartwarming bunny snuggles anyone could ask for. She is not just a pet, but my best friend and an integral part of my life.

I often jokingly say that the main reason I work is to provide for my bun because, in my eyes, she deserves nothing but the best.
